Renovation Boost: ₹17.44 Crore for Punjab Schools

In a major boost to educational infrastructure, the Punjab School Education Department has released more than ₹17.44 crore for renovation works across 852 government schools statewide. The initiative is designed to transform school spaces into vibrant, welcoming environments that promote a positive atmosphere conducive to students’ academic and personal growth.

Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced the fund release, emphasizing equitable distribution across districts. The detailed allocation is as follows:

  • Amritsar: ₹1.58 crore
  • Barnala: ₹44.64 lakh
  • Bathinda: ₹76.02 lakh
  • Faridkot: ₹50.31 lakh
  • Fatehgarh Sahib: ₹23.22 lakh
  • Fazilka: ₹1.13 crore
  • Ferozepur: ₹40.41 lakh
  • Gurdaspur: Over ₹1.18 crore
  • Hoshiarpur: ₹97.44 lakh
  • Jalandhar: ₹97.41 lakh
  • Kapurthala: ₹20.52 lakh
  • Ludhiana: ₹1.50 crore
  • Malerkotla: ₹15.75 lakh
  • Mansa: ₹61.11 lakh
  • Moga: ₹32.74 lakh
  • Muktsar: ₹46.47 lakh
  • Pathankot: ₹37.11 lakh
  • Patiala: ₹1.50 crore
  • Roopnagar: ₹78.14 lakh
  • SBS Nagar: ₹25.29 lakh
  • Sangrur: ₹2.45 crore
  • SAS Nagar (Mohali): ₹42.87 lakh
  • Tarn Taran: ₹59.49 lakh

Minister Bains has instructed all District Education Officers (Secondary) to directly transfer the funds to the bank accounts of the respective School Management Committees (SMCs). This approach ensures transparency and encourages active community participation in overseeing and executing the renovation projects.

Highlighting the move as a key step toward realizing Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s vision for high-quality educational facilities, Bains stated: “A bright, clean, and visually organized school environment directly enhances children’s focus and learning outcomes. We are painting a brighter future for our students and reaffirming that government schools are central to Punjab’s educational renaissance.”

He added, “By aligning our infrastructure with contemporary standards, we aim to make every child entering a government school feel inspired, valued, and eager to learn.”
