CM Mann Hands Over Appointment Letters to 523 Youths, Says 67,563 Govt Jobs Given on Merit
SAS Nagar (Mohali), June 17,
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann handed over appointment letters to 523 newly recruited candidates in the Health Department and reiterated that his government has completely transformed the recruitment process by eliminating corruption, favoritism, and political influence from government jobs.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has provided 67,563 government jobs in the last four years through a fully transparent and merit-based recruitment process, restoring the faith of Punjab’s youth in public employment.
“Earlier, government jobs had become a distant dream for deserving candidates because appointments were often influenced by recommendations and money power. Wealthy individuals could purchase jobs for lakhs of rupees, leaving talented youth from ordinary families without opportunities. Our government has completely changed this system, and today jobs are being awarded solely on the basis of merit and eligibility,” said CM Mann.
The Chief Minister emphasized that not a single recruitment carried out by the Punjab Government has been challenged in court, reflecting the transparency and fairness of the process. He added that Punjab’s youth now have confidence that hard work and talent alone are sufficient to secure government employment.
Highlighting the achievements of his government in the healthcare sector, CM Mann said Punjab has significantly strengthened primary healthcare through its network of 990 Aam Aadmi Clinics across urban and rural areas. These clinics provide 107 essential medicines and 47 diagnostic tests free of cost, while ensuring efficient healthcare services through technology-driven systems.
“The response from people has been overwhelming. More than 5.54 crore OPD visits have been recorded so far, with nearly 84,000 patients receiving treatment daily. More than 90 percent of patients receive medicines free of cost, and nearly 97 percent have expressed satisfaction with the services,” he said.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the government’s anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, aimed at eliminating drug abuse and trafficking from Punjab.
He further stated that the Punjab Government has taken a historic step towards Universal Health Coverage through the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna (MMSY), under which every family in Punjab is entitled to cashless health insurance coverage of up to ₹10 lakh annually for 2,356 medical and surgical procedures through nearly 900 government and empanelled private hospitals.
Speaking about recruitment transparency, CM Mann said Punjab has maintained an impeccable record in conducting examinations. “Not a single examination paper has leaked in Punjab during the last four and a half years,” he said.
Drawing a comparison with examination controversies elsewhere in the country, he remarked that while question paper leaks have affected thousands of aspirants nationally, Punjab has ensured complete transparency, accountability, and fairness in all competitive examinations and recruitment processes.
The Chief Minister also highlighted achievements in the power sector, noting that over 90 percent of households in Punjab are receiving free electricity, while farmers are benefiting from daytime power supply. He said the government has utilized public resources responsibly and taken decisions aimed at protecting public interest and strengthening the state’s future.
Urging the newly recruited employees to serve with dedication and commitment, CM Mann advised them to use their positions to assist the needy and underprivileged sections of society. He reminded them that their appointments were secured through hard work and merit in a highly competitive environment.

Reaffirming his commitment to making Punjab a leading state in the country, CM Mann said his government is working tirelessly to strengthen education, healthcare, employment, agriculture, industry, and public welfare.
“We are committed to making Punjab number one in every sector. No stone will be left unturned to ensure the progress, prosperity, and overall development of the state and its people,” he said.
Cabinet Minister Dr. Balbir Singh and several other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
