Chandigarh, August 21
Bringing pride and recognition to Punjab, Dinesh Kumar, a teacher at Government Victoria Girls Senior Secondary School, Patiala, has been honoured with the prestigious National Teachers’ Award 2026 for his exemplary contribution to the field of education.
The National Teachers’ Award is among the country’s highest honours for educators. The award is presented by the President of India on Teachers’ Day, September 5, each year to recognise teachers for outstanding excellence, innovation and dedication in education.
Congratulating Dinesh Kumar on his remarkable achievement, Punjab Education Minister Harjot Bains described him as an inspiration for the entire teaching community of the state.
The Education Minister said that Dinesh Kumar’s national-level recognition reflects the quality of education being delivered in Punjab’s government schools and the dedication of the state’s teachers. He added that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, remains committed to empowering educators and bringing transformative changes to the education system.

Bains further said that the honour would motivate the wider teaching community and inspire more government school teachers to pursue excellence in their respective fields.
