The Punjab government’s flagship Aam Aadmi Clinics, launched under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to bolster primary healthcare, have achieved a remarkable milestone, with over 4.20 crore Outpatient Department (OPD) visits and 2.29 crore lab tests conducted in just three years since August 15, 2022.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh announced that the 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics—316 urban and 565 rural—have provided free treatment, 107 types of free medicines, and 47 types of free diagnostic tests to patients across Punjab. He emphasized the department’s commitment to maintaining an uninterrupted supply of all essential drugs, with a recent survey showing 98% of patients confirming they received medications at the clinics. Strict instructions have been issued to ensure consistent drug availability.
Dr. Balbir Singh highlighted that the clinics serve approximately 73,000 patients daily, with an average of 83 patients per clinic, reflecting their efficiency in handling significant patient volumes. Of the 4.20 crore visits, 1.50 crore are unique, demonstrating wide accessibility, while 2.7 crore revisits indicate high patient trust and satisfaction. The clinics have saved individuals an estimated ₹2,000 crore in out-of-pocket healthcare expenses.

The minister noted that 54% of OPD visits are by women, signaling a shift toward gender-inclusive healthcare. Additionally, 13.9% of visits are by children and adolescents (0–15 years), 61.3% by adults (16–60 years), and 24.8% by senior citizens (above 60), showcasing the clinics’ ability to cater to diverse age groups.
Each clinic is equipped with advanced IT infrastructure, enabling fully digitized registration, consultations, examinations, and prescriptions, ensuring seamless operations.
