The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab has taken a decisive step to eradicate drugs by dividing the state into five zones and launching the ‘Nasha Mukti Morcha’, a dedicated committee to drive a massive anti-drug awareness campaign.
AAP leader and Punjabi actress Sonia Mann has been appointed coordinator for the Majha zone, Nayan Chhabra for Doaba, Jagdeep Jagga for Malwa East, Chuspinder Singh Chahal for Malwa West, and Sukhdeep Singh Dhillon for Malwa Central. Senior leader Baltej Pannu will serve as the chief spokesperson for the campaign committee.
Addressing a press conference at AAP’s Chandigarh headquarters, Punjab AAP president Aman Arora reaffirmed the party’s commitment to eliminating drugs. “Our fight will not stop until drugs are completely wiped out from Punjab,” he declared, emphasizing the government’s resolve to safeguard the youth’s future.
Arora highlighted the success of AAP’s ongoing ‘Yudh Nasha Virodh’ campaign, noting that thousands of drug traffickers and criminals have been arrested, FIRs filed, and illegal properties demolished. The government has adopted a dual strategy, cracking down on traffickers while providing treatment and support to those battling addiction through rehabilitation centers.
The ‘Nasha Mukti Morcha’ will now spearhead grassroots awareness efforts, reaching every household in Punjab through campaigns and initiatives to educate communities about the dangers of drugs. Arora announced that an official platform will be created to share regular updates on the committee’s work and outcomes.

Congratulating the committee members, Arora expressed confidence in their ability to make the campaign a success. He noted that AAP’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal recently announced in Ludhiana that he, along with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, cabinet ministers, MLAs, and party workers, will visit villages to further amplify these awareness efforts.
