The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Nirdosh Kaur and her Reader Beant Singh, both stationed at the Women’s Cell in Ludhiana, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 30,000.
According to a VB spokesperson, a complaint was lodged by Pritpal Kumar of Bathinda district. Kumar alleged that his nephew’s matrimonial dispute was being exploited by the ACP and her Reader. The duo allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs. 1 lakh to resolve the matter, which was later reduced to Rs. 60,000.

On July 29, 2024, the Reader accepted an initial payment of Rs. 30,000, with the remaining amount scheduled for August 1. Based on this complaint, a VB trap was laid, and both accused were arrested while accepting the second installment of the bribe.
A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused, who will be produced in court on Friday.
