Afghanistan has bolstered its coaching team with the addition of experienced Indian coach R Sridhar. Sridhar will join Jonathan Trott’s staff as an assistant coach for the upcoming one-off Test against New Zealand and the three-match ODI series against South Africa.

The 54-year-old played 35 first-class matches and 15 List A contests for Hyderabad, establishing himself as a left-arm spinner with over 100 wickets. However, it’s his coaching career that has truly flourished, having been part of the Indian coaching staff for two ICC Men’s Cricket World Cups and two ICC Men’s T20 World Cups in recent years.
Afghanistan is hopeful that this short-term coaching arrangement with Sridhar will evolve into a more permanent partnership.
