Akali MLA Dr. Sukhwinder Sukhi Joins AAP, Strengthening the Party in Punjab

In a major boost to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab, Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhi, the MLA from the Banga Assembly constituency, left the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and officially joined AAP on Wednesday.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann welcomed Dr. Sukhi into the AAP in the presence of the party’s National General Secretary (Organization) Sandeep Pathak and other senior leaders. Along with Dr. Sukhi, hundreds of his supporters also joined the party, further enhancing AAP’s strength in the region.
CM Bhagwant Mann expressed his excitement over the expansion of the AAP family, sharing a message on social media about the growing support for the party in Punjab and extending a warm welcome to Dr. Sukhwinder Sukhi.

The Chief Minister emphasized that AAP shares a deep connection with the medical community, as several of its ministers and MLAs are doctors by profession. He acknowledged Dr. Sukhi’s dedicated work for the people of his constituency and his focus on key issues without engaging in controversial rhetoric. Mann believes Dr. Sukhi’s induction will significantly benefit the party.
Dr. Sukhwinder Sukhi has served as the MLA for Banga since 2017 and was re-elected in 2022. A doctor by profession, he has been involved in social service for many years. After joining AAP, Dr. Sukhi expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Mann and the party leadership, mentioning that he has admired the CM’s work since the beginning. He also attended Mann’s swearing-in ceremony at Khatkar Kalan.
Dr. Sukhi praised CM Mann’s decisive action against corruption, recalling how the Chief Minister swiftly suspended a Naib Tehsildar from his area following a complaint. He also shared that Mann has assured him of the establishment of a medical college in the Banga constituency.
