In a historic victory, Bangladesh clinched their first-ever Test match win against Pakistan, defeating their arch-rivals by 10 wickets in the opening match of the series in Rawalpindi. This landmark triumph snapped a 14-match losing streak against Pakistan.
With this win, Bangladesh joined India and South Africa as the only teams they have yet to defeat in Test cricket. The victory also boosted their position in the ICC World Test Championship standings, jumping to sixth place.

Despite a delayed start due to wet conditions, the match turned into a gripping contest by the fifth day. Bangladesh’s strong start on the first day, claiming four wickets, set the tone for the match.
Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel fought back with impressive centuries on Day 2, rescuing their team from a precarious position. Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim and Shadnam Ismail also played crucial roles, contributing significant runs to their team’s total.
Bangladesh’s 565-run total gave them a 117-run lead, their third-highest score in Test cricket. On Day 5, Pakistan’s batting faltered, and they were bowled out for 146. Bangladesh chased down the target of 30 runs with ease, securing a historic win.
