
Rupnagar, November 24:
Punjab Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains graced the 32nd Dashmesh Hawks All India Hockey Festival and awarded the winning BSF team with Rs. 1.25 lakh and the runner-up CRPF team with Rs. 75,000.
The minister praised the efforts of Advocate S.S. Saini, General Secretary of the Hawks Club, for organizing the national-level tournament. He also acknowledged the sponsorship of MD Cheema Boiler Ltd’s Hardeep Singh Cheema.

To promote sports in the Rupnagar district, the government is undertaking various infrastructure development projects:
- Hockey Astroturf Ground: Being constructed at Adarsh School Lodhipur at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore.
- Football Astroturf Ground: Being built at Kiratpur Sahib.
- Indoor Swimming Pool: Being constructed at Nangal.
- Modern Swimming Pool: Being built at Rupnagar.
The minister also announced a grant of Rs 10 lakh for the Hawks Club to further their sports development initiatives.
The event was further enhanced by the performances of the Punjab Police Phillaur and Haryana Home Guard bands.
