Across three Test matches, Bumrah took an impressive 22 wickets at an average of just 14.22, leading India’s bowling attack. His key performances included:
- Adelaide Test: A four-wicket haul that restricted Australia’s first-innings lead.
- Brisbane Test: A sensational nine-wicket match haul (6 in the first innings, 3 in the second) that helped secure a draw.
- Melbourne Test: Four wickets in the first innings followed by a five-wicket haul in the second, despite India ultimately losing the match.
Despite a challenging tour for the Indian team, Bumrah consistently delivered match-defining performances, earning him the Player of the Series award and further solidifying his status as one of the world’s best bowlers. He also achieved two significant milestones during the series: taking his 200th Test wicket (becoming the fourth-fastest to do so in terms of balls bowled) and becoming the first bowler to reach 200 Test wickets at an average below 20.
