Chandigarh, November 25
The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has achieved a historic milestone by providing nearly 50,000 government jobs to youth within just 32 months of its tenure. This landmark accomplishment highlights the AAP government’s commitment to fair and transparent governance.
Marking the occasion, the Chief Minister handed over 1,311 appointment letters to newly recruited PSPCL employees, raising the total number of government jobs provided since March 2022 to 49,427.
Empowering Youth through Transparent Recruitment
Addressing the gathering, CM Mann congratulated the recruits, emphasizing that these opportunities were earned on merit and were not a favor. He criticized previous governments for neglecting the aspirations of Punjab’s youth. Mann highlighted that his administration has prioritized transparency and fairness in the recruitment process, ensuring that deserving candidates are given opportunities.

Reversing Privatization and Brain Drain
The Chief Minister noted a significant reversal in trends under his leadership. His government successfully purchased the Goindwal Sahib thermal power plant, previously owned by GVK Power, for ₹1,080 crore, a move he described as historic. “While earlier governments sold public assets at throwaway prices, we are reclaiming what belongs to the people,” he said.
Mann also highlighted a positive shift in youth migration patterns. The government’s employment initiatives have encouraged youth to return to Punjab, reducing the trend of migration abroad and creating avenues for growth within the state.
Acknowledging Punjab’s Legacy and Potential
CM Mann expressed pride in Punjab’s rich heritage, calling it a “land of Gurus and heroes.” He praised Punjabis for their entrepreneurial spirit and resilience, which have helped them excel globally. By providing jobs to over 49,000 youth, including some who returned from abroad, the government aims to harness this potential for the state’s progress.
Rejecting Arrogant Politicians
The Chief Minister also reflected on the recent by-polls, where people rejected “arrogant politicians” and endorsed pro-people governance. He criticized opposition leaders for their disconnect from the masses, stating, “They considered ruling the state their divine right, but people have shown them the door.”
Mann remarked that these leaders had amassed wealth through misuse of power, living in grand palaces with no access to the common people. In contrast, his government has ushered in an era of inclusivity and transparency.
A Vision for Rangla Punjab
The Chief Minister urged the newly appointed employees to serve the public with dedication and compassion. He expressed hope that their work would uplift the underprivileged and contribute to a prosperous Punjab.
“This is a glimpse of Rangla Punjab—a vibrant and thriving state. Our government is leaving no stone unturned to make this vision a reality,” he said.
Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO, who welcomed the Chief Minister at the event, echoed his sentiments, applauding the administration’s efforts to bring about a transformative change in Punjab’s governance and development.
