Bhawanigarh, February 22
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today extended heartfelt condolences to the family of Constable Harshveer Singh , who laid down his life in the line of duty while serving with the Sadak Surakhya Force . As a mark of respect and gratitude for his supreme sacrifice, the Chief Minister handed over a cheque worth Rs. 1 crore to the martyr’s family.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhagwant Mann stated that Constable Harshveer Singh had made the ultimate sacrifice while dutifully performing his responsibilities. He informed that the state government has provided Rs. 1 crore as ex-gratia compensation , while an additional insurance cover of Rs. 1 crore was disbursed by HDFC Bank .
“This initiative is a humble recognition of the immense contribution made by this brave son of Punjab in safeguarding the state,” the Chief Minister said. He emphasized that the government is committed to honoring the sacrifices of its brave soldiers and ensuring their families are supported in every possible way.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the state government is duty-bound to stand by the families of soldiers—whether from the armed forces, paramilitary, or police—who sacrifice their lives for the nation. He highlighted that the financial assistance provided to the family of Constable Harshveer Singh aligns with the government’s broader commitment to ensure the well-being of those who serve and their dependents.
“This gesture is not just a token of respect but also a means to secure the future of the martyred soldier’s family,” Mann said. He expressed hope that this support would help ease the family’s immediate burdens while providing long-term stability.
