Reiterating his government’s commitment to eradicating drugs from Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann inaugurated the new Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) office and launched an Anti-Drug Helpline and WhatsApp Chatbot (9779100200).
Addressing the media after the inauguration, the Chief Minister announced the renaming of the Apex State Level Drug Law Enforcement Unit to ANTF. The new office is located on the second floor of Sohana Police Station in Sector 79, SAS Nagar, and has been renovated at a cost of Rs. 90 lakh.
The Anti-Drug Helpline and WhatsApp Chatbot will provide a platform for citizens and drug addicts to report drug traffickers and seek medical assistance. The Chief Minister emphasized that the informer’s identity will be kept confidential.
The ANTF has been strengthened with additional manpower, resources, and technology. The existing workforce has been doubled from 400 to 861, and 14 new Mahindra Scorpio vehicles will be provided for improved mobility. A dedicated one-acre land will be allocated for the ANTF’s independent headquarters in Mohali, and Rs. 10 crores will be sanctioned from the CADA Fund for implementing the EDP (Enforcement-De-Addiction-Prevention) strategy.
The Chief Minister commended the Punjab Police for effectively handling serious law and order cases, including the Khanna desecration incident and the attack on an NRI in Amritsar. He highlighted the Police’s efforts in securing the 532-kilometer international border and combating new challenges like drone smuggling.

Addressing concerns about land acquisition for road projects, the Chief Minister urged the Union government and NHAI to reconsider their approach for Punjab. He emphasized that there are no law and order issues related to land acquisition in the state and that the process is progressing smoothly.
Regarding recent controversies involving Kangana Ranaut, the Chief Minister criticized the BJP for not controlling their controversial MPs. He urged the BJP to address Kangana’s repeated attacks on Punjabis and focus on the welfare of her constituency in Mandi.
