CM Mann Accuses BJP of Conspiracy Over ‘Beadbi’ Law, Vows Not to Back Down
Chandigarh, April 24,
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann launched a strong attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging that since the enactment of stricter laws against ‘beadbi’ (sacrilege), the party has been attempting to weaken and sideline him.
Addressing a press conference, the Chief Minister said that the BJP, lacking a political base in Punjab, has been resorting to tactics such as intimidation, inducements, and attempts to engineer defections. He claimed that despite repeated electoral setbacks in the state, the BJP continues to act against Punjab’s interests and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
CM Mann asserted that Punjab’s people would hold accountable those who betray the state, emphasizing that such political manoeuvres cannot succeed in a democracy where the public remains supreme. He also criticized leaders leaving the party, stating that those who abandon their ideology for personal gains eventually lose public trust.

Highlighting governance achievements, he said the state government has delivered significant progress in sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and employment. According to him, over 65,000 government jobs have been provided on merit, free electricity has benefited a majority of households, and major improvements have been made in roads and public services.
The Chief Minister further alleged that the BJP has tried to destabilize regional parties across the country and is using central agencies to exert pressure. He reiterated that his government remains committed to Punjab’s development and will not compromise on issues related to sacrilege.
Reaffirming his stance, CM Mann said he would not step back from the issue of ‘beadbi’ despite any political pressure or conspiracies. He concluded by stating that the people of Punjab would give a fitting response to those acting against the state’s interests.
