Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, on Wednesday, led a high-energy campaign for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidates contesting the upcoming Municipal Corporation elections in Amritsar. Addressing an enthusiastic crowd on the historic streets of the city, CM Mann expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and reaffirmed AAP’s pledge to make Amritsar a global hub for tourism, economy, and culture.
A Vision for Amritsar’s Future
Calling Amritsar the “land of martyrs” and a city steeped in history and culture, Mann underlined its global significance as home to landmarks like Sri Harmandir Sahib, Jallianwala Bagh, Durgiana Mandir, and Wagah Border. He unveiled AAP’s vision for modernizing Amritsar with a focus on clean governance, infrastructure upgrades, and enhanced tourism.

The CM presented a detailed roadmap for development, highlighting:
- Eco-friendly public transport: The introduction of electric buses and advanced charging stations to reduce pollution and improve connectivity.
- Market modernization: Upgrading old markets and easing congestion in narrow streets to restore the city’s charm and boost commerce.
- Beautification projects: Replacing overhead electric wires with underground cabling to improve aesthetics and safety.
- Sanitation reforms: Cleaning polluted drains, particularly along the Amritsar-Wagah road, to enhance environmental health.
- Tourism development: Encouraging longer stays by tourists, thereby driving growth in shopping, hospitality, and local businesses.
Appeal for Local Governance by AAP
CM Mann urged Amritsar’s residents to vote for AAP candidates, emphasizing the crucial role of municipal bodies in improving citizens’ quality of life. He assured voters that AAP candidates are committed, well-connected with the people, and equipped to address local challenges effectively.

CM Mann pointed to the state government’s achievements, including the merit-based recruitment of 50,000 youth into government jobs without corruption or favoritism. He emphasized the need to replicate this honest and efficient governance at the municipal level for accelerated progress.
He criticized opposition parties for their internal conflicts and failure to address public issues, urging voters to reject divisive politics in favor of AAP’s vision of clean and progressive governance.
“The broom represents hope, change, and a better future for your children,” Mann reiterated, urging citizens to vote for the AAP symbol in the elections scheduled for December 21.
