CM Mann Holds Police Accountable for Crime, Reiterates Zero Tolerance Against Drugs and Organized Crime

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, in a meeting with Commissioners of Police and Senior Superintendents of Police, reiterated the state government’s firm commitment to controlling crime. He emphasized that police officers will be held directly accountable for major crimes within their jurisdictions.
Mann stressed the importance of effective and responsive policing to curb crime, highlighting the Punjab Police’s distinguished history of safeguarding the nation’s unity and integrity. He urged officers to uphold communal harmony, peace, and brotherhood while ensuring justice for all.
The Chief Minister announced upcoming police reforms aimed at improving public service and maintaining peace in the state. He noted the government’s focus on modernizing the police force, equipping them with world-class vehicles.

Mann called for strict action against unlawful activities, emphasizing that no one involved in crime will be spared. He instructed officers to prioritize intelligence gathering and delivering justice to the common man. He also urged for the war against drugs to become a mass movement, encouraging the participation of Panchayats.
He reiterated a zero-tolerance policy against drugs, demanding the disruption of supply lines and the confiscation of drug smugglers’ properties. He stated his intention to monitor anti-drug efforts daily and called for strategies to educate youth about the dangers of drug abuse. He stressed the need to apprehend major figures involved in the drug trade.
Mann affirmed the government’s resolve to eliminate organized crime, demanding strict action against gangsters. He stated that no one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands and that exemplary punishment will be meted out to those involved in such activities. He directed officers to develop a comprehensive plan to address petty crimes.
The Chief Minister also addressed the issue of corruption within the police force, stating that it will be dealt with severely. He called for the identification and prosecution of corrupt officers who tarnish the police’s reputation.
Mann advocated for improved coordination between the police and the public to reduce crime rates, citing the crucial role of public support in combating terrorism in the past.
Finally, he directed officers to conduct surprise checks within their jurisdictions, not for fault-finding, but to streamline law and order processes, enhance police efficiency, and ensure public safety and security.
