CM MANN, SANT NIRANJAN DASS LAY FOUNDATION STONE FOR STP AT DERA SACHKHAND BALLAN

-ENVIRONMENT-FRIENDLY PROJECT EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETED WITHIN A YEAR

-CM PRAISES DERA SACHKHAND BALLAN FOR ITS LEADING ROLE IN SOCIAL WELFARE

Ballan (Jalandhar), August 7

 Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, alongside Sant Niranjan Dass, head of Dera Sachkhand Ballan, laid the foundation stone for a Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) and Main Pumping Station at Dera Sachkhand Ballan on Thursday. The ₹3.4 crore project is set to be completed within 12 months.

The Chief Minister paid obeisance at Dera Sachkhand Ballan and sought blessings from Sant Niranjan Dass Ji. Expressing his gratitude, Mann said he felt blessed to visit this sacred site, which embodies the legacy of great religious leaders and promotes universal peace, brotherhood, and communal harmony. He highlighted that, inspired by Baba Sahib Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the Punjab Government has prioritized education, healthcare, employment, and other critical sectors.

Mann outlined his government’s transformative initiatives, noting that Punjab is leading the nation in educational outcomes. He proudly shared that students from underprivileged backgrounds are now excelling in competitive exams like NEET and JEE due to the state’s dedicated efforts. Additionally, he highlighted the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, a pioneering scheme offering up to ₹10 lakh in cashless medical treatment per family for all Punjab residents, easing financial burdens and ensuring quality healthcare access.

Describing the event as historic, the Chief Minister announced that the STP, with a capacity of 0.5 MLD (Million Litres per Day), will enhance sanitation infrastructure for the lakhs of devotees visiting Dera Sachkhand Ballan. The project will provide a clean and healthy environment and is expected to be completed within a year at a cost of ₹3.4 crore. Treated water from the plant will be recycled for irrigating approximately 13 hectares of land, promoting clean water access, improved healthcare, environmental protection, and reduced groundwater dependency.

Mann expressed pride in the Punjab Government’s contribution to this noble initiative. He lauded Dera Sachkhand Ballan for its consistent leadership in social welfare, inspiring millions of followers of Sri Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji, who advocated for an egalitarian society. The Chief Minister commended the Dera’s efforts in uplifting underprivileged communities through quality education, healthcare, and philanthropy, noting his privilege of visiting the holy site multiple times since taking office.

The ceremony was attended by dignitaries including Cabinet Ministers Harbhajan Singh ETO, Lal Chand Kataruchak, Dr. Ravjot Singh, and Mohinder Bhagat, Lok Sabha MP Dr. Rajkumar Chabbewal, MLAs Balkar Singh, Inderjit Kaur Mann, and Jasvir Singh Gill, Chairman of the Punjab Safai Karamchari Commission Chandan Grewal, Chairman of the Punjab State Cooperative Bank Pawan Teenu, Chairman of Punjab Agro Mangal Singh Bassi, and others.
