Continuing its relentless fight against corruption, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) today arrested Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Ranjit Singh, stationed at Anaj Mandi Police Station in Patiala, while he was caught red-handed accepting a ₹15,000 bribe.
A VB spokesperson revealed that ASI Ranjit Singh, the investigating officer in a case against the complainant at the same police station, demanded ₹15,000 to provide assistance.

Following verification of the complaint, the VB team set a trap. ASI Ranjit Singh was caught red-handed accepting the bribe from the complainant in the presence of government witnesses. The bribe money was recovered from him on the spot.
The spokesperson further stated that a case has been registered against the accused ASI under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the VB police station in Patiala Range. He will be produced in court tomorrow, and further investigation is underway.
