Davian Aarav Bags Silver Medal & Qualifies for National Fencing Championship

Patiala, May 8

Aarav Kumar, a 13-year-old Class 7 student of DAV Public School, Patiala, has brought laurels to his school by winning a silver medal in the individual Saber event at the Cadet Under-17 State Fencing Championship–2026 held in Sangrur.

Impressed by his outstanding performance, Aarav has been selected to represent Punjab in the Cadet-17 National Fencing Championship, scheduled to be held from May 23 to May 28, 2026, in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand.

Aarav Kumar had earlier secured the first position in the Cadet Under-17 District-level competitions. He also won a gold medal in the Saber team event at the 27th Sub-Junior National Championship held in Imphal, Manipur, from November 3 to 8, 2025. Currently, he is undergoing specialized fencing training under the “Come-and-Play” scheme at NIS Patiala.

Expressing gratitude for his achievement, Aarav credited the constant motivation and guidance of his coaches, teachers, and NSNIS Senior Executive Director (A) Vineet Kumar.

School Principal Vivek Tiwari and the entire staff congratulated Aarav on his success and wished him the very best for the upcoming National Championship.
