Day 97 of ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’: Punjab Police Arrest 134 Drug Smugglers, Recover 1kg Heroin and ₹4.9L Drug Money

Chandigarh, June 6,

On the 97th day of the anti-drug campaign “Yudh Nashian Virudh,” launched under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s directives to eliminate the drug menace in Punjab, the Punjab Police arrested 134 drug smugglers on Thursday. The operation led to the recovery of 1.08 kg of heroin and Rs 4.97 lakh in drug money, bringing the total number of arrests to 16,079 in 97 days.

Directed by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav, the operation spanned all 28 police districts of the state. CM Mann has instructed Commissioners of Police, Deputy Commissioners, and Senior Superintendents of Police to make Punjab drug-free, with a five-member Cabinet Sub-Committee, led by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, overseeing the campaign. watch…..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJSib79cLv4

Special DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla detailed that over 200 police teams, involving 1,500 personnel and supervised by 94 gazetted officers, conducted raids at 537 locations, resulting in 96 FIRs. Additionally, 572 suspicious individuals were checked during the day-long operation.

As part of the state’s three-pronged Enforcement, De-addiction, and Prevention (EDP) strategy, Punjab Police also convinced 110 individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on Thursday.
