Deepika Kumari and Dhiraj Bommadevara Crowned National Recurve Archery Champions

Deepika Kumari and Dhiraj Bommadevara, both of whom competed at the Paris 2024 Olympics, secured the women’s and men’s recurve titles, respectively, at the National Archery Championships 2024 in Jamshedpur.
Deepika defeated fellow Olympian Ankita Bhakat 6-2 in the women’s recurve final, after overcoming Simranjeet Kaur 6-4 in the semi-final. Deepika also won gold in the mixed team event alongside her husband, Atanu Das, representing the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB), defeating Punjab 6-2. Both Deepika and Atanu are training for the LA 2028 Olympics under their new coach, former Commonwealth Games champion Rahul Banerjee.

In the men’s recurve final, Dhiraj Bommadevara triumphed over Divyansh Chaudhary 6-2, having previously defeated Chingakham Achanba Singh 7-1 in the semi-final.
The individual compound finals took place on Thursday, with Parneet Kaur and Abhishek Verma emerging as champions.

- Parneet Kaur had a dominant performance, winning two gold medals and one bronze:
- Gold: Individual Compound Women (defeating Srishti Singh 146-142)
- Gold: Mixed Doubles (with Uday Kamboj, defeating Maharashtra 158-156)
- Bronze: Women’s Team (defeating Railways 228-226)
- Veteran Abhishek Verma, a two-time Asian Games team gold medalist, won the individual men’s compound title, defeating Uday Kamboj 147-145.
