Deepika Kumari Strikes Gold in Individual Archery at National Games 2025

Four-time Olympian Deepika Kumari won the gold medal in the women’s recurve individual archery event at the National Games 2025 on Thursday. This is her second consecutive gold in this event at the National Games, having also won in 2023 in Goa.
Kumari’s medal haul at the Games also includes a bronze in the recurve mixed team event and a silver in the recurve women’s team event.
In the women’s recurve individual final, she defeated Anshika Kumari 6-4. Komalika Bari took the bronze medal.

Juyel Sarkar, a rising star in archery, won gold in the men’s recurve individual event, defeating Indra Chand 6-4 in the final. Sarkar had earlier upset veteran archer and four-time Olympian Tarundeep Rai in the semi-finals. Rai later secured the bronze medal by defeating Rahul in the third-place playoff.
In the recurve mixed team event, Shukmani Gajanan Babrekar and Gatha Anandrao Khadake won gold, defeating Paras Hooda and Bhajan Kaur, who took silver. The bronze medal was awarded to the Jharkhand duo of Goldi Mishra and Deepika Kumari.

The recurve men’s team gold medal was won by Goldi Mishra, Shrey Bhardwaj, Vishnu Choudhary, and Gurucharan Besra. Neeraj Chauhan, Aman Singh Yadav, Rohit Kumar, and Mrinal Chauhan took silver, while Dhiraj Bommadevara, Rahul, Indra Chand, and Sukhchain Singh secured bronze.
In the recurve women’s team event, Gatha Anandrao Khadake, Vaishnavi Babarao Pawar, Sharvari Somnath Shende, and Mukta Deepak Modgi won gold, beating Deepika Kumari, Komalika Bari, Ankita Bhakat, and Tamanna Verma, who took silver. Bhajan Kaur, Kirti, Avani, and Bhavna won the bronze medal.
Medals were awarded across all recurve archery categories on Thursday. Archery competitions at the 38th National Games will conclude on Friday. The National Games 2025, which began on January 28, will continue until February 14
