Cricket, a game of balance between batsmen and bowlers, typically involves a team fielding 6-7 batsmen and 5-6 bowlers. While it’s common for captains to rotate bowlers throughout a match, using all 11 players is quite rare.
Historically, it’s been even rarer to see all 11 players bowl in a single innings of a cricket match. While this has happened a few times in Test cricket, it was unprecedented in T20 internationals

Delhi’s Innovative Strategy However, this has now changed. In the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024, Delhi’s cricket team created history by using all 11 players as bowlers in a single T20 match. This is the first time in the history of T20 cricket that a team has used its entire playing XI as bowlers in a single innings.
How it Happened In a match against Manipur, Delhi captain Ayush Badoni decided to experiment. He gave bowling opportunities to all 11 players in his team. Players like Harsh Tyagi, Digvesh Rathi, and Mayank Rawat bowled 3 overs each, while the captain himself, along with Ayush Singh and Akhil Chaudhary, bowled 2 overs each. The remaining 5 players – Aryan Rana, Himmat Singh, Priyansh Arya, Yash Dhull, and Anuj Rawat – bowled one over each.
This unique strategy not only made Delhi the first team to use all 11 players as bowlers in a T20 match but also showcased a different approach to the game. While the novelty of this tactic might be debated, it certainly created a talking point in the cricketing world.
