CM CALLS YOUTH TO BE ACTIVE PARTNERS IN STATE’S SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
HIGHLIGHTS REVERSE MIGRATION TREND WITH OVER 50,000 GOVERNMENT JOBS OFFERED TO YOUTH
ASSERTS SPORTS PROMOTION AS A POWERFUL TOOL IN FIGHT AGAINST DRUGS
Ghungrali (Ludhiana), February 16:
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann urged the youth of the state to learn from the recent deportation of illegal migrants from the USA and avoid moving abroad through unlawful means. Addressing a gathering during a sports tournament here on Sunday, he appealed to the youth to focus on contributing to the socio-economic development of Punjab instead of seeking opportunities overseas through dubious methods.
The Chief Minister emphasized that Punjab is blessed with fertile land and immense potential, but successive governments in the past failed to provide adequate opportunities for the youth, forcing them to migrate abroad in search of better prospects. He described the mass deportations from the US as an “eye-opener” and urged the youth to channel their energy into building a prosperous Punjab.
MASSIVE JOB OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH
Highlighting his government’s achievements, Bhagwant Mann stated that over 50,000 government jobs have been provided to the youth in Punjab purely on merit over the past three years—a historic milestone for the state. He assured that this trend will continue, with more job opportunities in the pipeline, including significant recruitment drives in various departments.
The Chief Minister noted that Punjab is witnessing reverse migration , as many youth are returning from foreign countries to take up government jobs in the state. Transparent recruitment processes have restored faith in public service, encouraging youth to prepare for competitive exams rather than seeking uncertain futures abroad. Educational institutions in Punjab are also seeing a surge in admissions, reversing the earlier trend of students opting to study or settle overseas.

BOOSTING POLICE FORCE AND LAW ENFORCEMENT
To address manpower shortages in the police department and enhance its efficiency, the state government has decided to recruit 1,800 Constables and 300 Sub-Inspectors annually. Additionally, a notification has been issued for the recruitment of 10,000 new cops in Punjab Police.
Mann explained that these initiatives will not only strengthen law enforcement but also provide employment opportunities for thousands of youth. With approximately 2.5 lakh candidates expected to apply for these posts annually, aspirants will be motivated to focus on academics and physical fitness, fostering discipline and skill development among the youth.

POLITICAL LEADERSHIP AND PEOPLE-CENTRIC GOVERNANCE
The Chief Minister criticized traditional political parties, accusing them of being envious of his humble background. He remarked that leaders who believed they had a “divine right” to rule Punjab are now unable to accept governance by a common man. Mann asserted that such leaders misled the public for decades, but people are no longer swayed by their propaganda.
He added that the people of Punjab have rejected parties that treated power as a tool for personal gain, looting the state every five years. The current government, led by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was given a mandate to serve the people, and it remains committed to fulfilling their expectations. Mann accused opposition leaders of targeting him out of jealousy over the pro-people policies implemented by his administration.
SPORTS AS A CRUSADE AGAINST DRUGS
The Chief Minister stressed that promoting sports culture can be one of the most effective tools in Punjab’s fight against drug addiction. He highlighted that engaging youth in sports channels their boundless energy into productive pursuits, leaving no room for drugs. Youth involved in sports, he said, are too busy excelling in their fields to even consider substance abuse.

Mann praised initiatives like ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Dian’ , an annual sports event organized by the state government to provide a platform for budding athletes. Such events help identify talent and groom players for national and international competitions. The government is committed to popularizing sports across Punjab, recognizing its potential to drive progress and prosperity.
RANGLA PUNJAB: CELEBRATING CULTURE AND HAPPINESS
Congratulating the organizing committee for the successful conduct of the sports tournament, Mann noted that such events were rare during previous regimes. However, under the AAP government, the atmosphere has transformed, and people are actively participating in and enjoying cultural and sporting events. He described this as a glimpse of ‘Rangla Punjab’ , where the government is dedicated to organizing events that bring joy and foster community spirit.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister announced grants exceeding Rs 1 crore for the development of Ghungrali village. These funds will be utilized for constructing an Aam Aadmi Clinic , installing solar lights, building a community hall, setting up a water treatment plant, and other infrastructure projects.
