The Punjab Police commemorated the 65th Police Commemoration Day to honor the brave police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
DGP’s Tribute: DGP Gaurav Yadav paid tribute to the martyrs, emphasizing their exceptional service to the nation. He acknowledged their sacrifices in maintaining unity and security and highlighted the Punjab Police’s reputation for bravery and courage.

Extortion Calls: The DGP revealed that over 80% of extortion calls are made by local criminals posing as notorious gangsters. He urged citizens to report such crimes promptly and directed police officers to convert all extortion calls and petty crimes into FIRs for thorough investigation.
Proactive Approach: Yadav emphasized the Punjab Police’s proactive approach to organized crime, instructing officers to retaliate in self-defense if attacked. He also highlighted the introduction of a health insurance scheme for police personnel.
Support for Martyrs’ Families: The DGP met with families of police martyrs, assuring them of full support and cooperation from the Punjab government and police.
Commemoration Parade: A well-organized commemoration parade was held at the Punjab Armed Police (PAP) headquarters. The names of all 213 police martyrs were read out, and a two-minute silence was observed.
