Senior IAS officer and Secretary of Jails, Muhammad Tayyab, along with Patiala Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav, visited several villages along the Ghaggar River in the Ghanaur area to assess the situation. After inspecting the gauge at Sarala Head, they stated that the district administration is fully vigilant and has made comprehensive arrangements at all levels to address the situation caused by excess water in the Ghaggar, Tangri, and Markanda rivers due to continuous rainfall. During the visit, both officials also monitored ongoing efforts to strengthen the weakened embankments of the Ghaggar River.
Dr. Preeti Yadav informed that the district administration has issued warnings to residents of 21 villages affected by the rising water levels in the Ghaggar. SDM Rajpura Avikesh Gupta has directed residents of villages including Sanjarpur, Untsar, Darba, Salempur, Shamshpur, Jandmangoli, Harpala, Rampur, Saunta, Mariyan, Kapuri, Kamalpur, Sarala Kalan, Sarala Khurd, Kami Khurd, Chamaru, Lachhru Khurd, Mahidudan, Manjoli, Maru, Jambomajra, and Jamitgarh to relocate to safer areas due to a high alert in these regions. Residents can contact the Rajpura Flood Control Room at 01762-224132 for any information.
Similarly, a high alert has been issued for villages near the Tangri River in the Dudhan Sadhan subdivision. Heavy rainfall in the upper regions of Ambala and Kala Amb has caused the Tangri River’s water level to approach the danger mark in Ambala, potentially leading to flooding in the Devigarh area. Villages likely to be affected include Mahmoodpur Rurki, Devinagar, Harigarh, Rohar Jagir, Lehlan Jagir, Dudhangujran, Adalatiwala, and Magghar Sahib on the right side of the Tangri, and Mohalgarh, Khansa, Rattakhera, Aujan, Khatoli, Ganeshpur, Kharabgarh, Bibipur, Jodhpur, Budhmor, and Sadikpur Bir on the left side. Residents of these areas are advised to remain vigilant, avoid going near the river, and strictly follow all official instructions.

The Deputy Commissioner urged residents to contact the Patiala District Administration’s Control Room at 0175-2350550 or 2358550 for any information, as relief camps have been established in all affected areas with necessary arrangements in place. She appealed to the public to stay cautious of rumors and adhere only to official guidelines.
Dr. Preeti Yadav assured that all teams are working on the ground to ensure the safety of lives and property. She requested residents to share photos or videos of any breaches or water leakages promptly so that immediate action can be taken. She cautioned against going near floodwaters for photos or selfies, as it could lead to accidents, and urged the public to report any incidents to the administration immediately.
