Patiala, December 16
Punjab’s Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh stated that the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is adopting a zero-tolerance policy against gangsterism and illegal arms.
The Health Minister made these remarks during his visit to Government Rajindra Hospital in Patiala today. On this occasion, Dr. Balbir Singh inquired about the well-being of youth Balwinder Singh Bhinda, who was injured in a shooting by miscreants on the evening of December 14 in Jhille village of Patiala rural constituency. He met the injured youth and his family, assuring them of the immediate arrest of the culprits and strict punishment. He informed that he had spoken to senior police officials, and the investigation is ongoing based on CCTV footage. The guilty will face severe penalties, and no one will be spared.
In an informal interaction with the media, Dr. Balbir Singh clarified that not only those who fire the shots but also the conspirators behind them will face action, with the probe reaching the root of the crime.
The Health Minister said that in the recent Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad elections, the Aam Aadmi Party did not resort to any strong-arm tactics; instead, the elections were conducted in a free and fair manner. He added that while the ruling party participated democratically, goons from parties that previously ruled the state intimidated AAP workers.

The Health Minister further emphasised that, just as the Punjab government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has launched a war against drugs and initiated action against drug traffickers, similarly, no leniency is being shown against illegal arms linked to gangsterism, and no guilty person will be spared.
Present on the occasion were Principal Director of the Medical College Dr. R.P.S. Sibia, Medical Superintendent Dr. Vishal Chopra, Jasvir Singh Gandhi, and others.
