India A, captained by Mayank Agarwal, has won the Duleep Trophy 2024 by defeating India C by 132 runs in the third and final match.
In the third leg of the Duleep Trophy 2024, India A, under the leadership of Mayank Agarwal, outperformed India C, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, by a significant margin of 132 runs. This victory secured India A’s position at the top of the points table, earning them the Duleep Trophy 2024 title.
India A had a commendable performance throughout the tournament, winning two out of the three matches. With a total of 12 points from two victories, India A emerged as the champions. India C finished as runners-up with 9 points. This marked the 61st time India A had lifted the Duleep Trophy. Shashwat Rawat was adjudged the Player of the Match for his outstanding performance.

Mayank Agarwal takes over as captain Initially, Shubman Gill was the captain of India A for the first match of the Duleep Trophy 2024, but India A lost to India B by 76 runs. Subsequently, Gill was included in the Indian team for the Test series against Bangladesh, and the captaincy was handed over to Mayank Agarwal. Under Agarwal’s leadership, India A defeated India D by 186 runs in the second match and then clinched the title by defeating India C in the final match.
Key performances in the final match In the final match, India A scored 297 runs in their first innings, thanks to Shashwat Rawat’s century (124) and Avesh Khan’s unbeaten 51. In reply, India C managed 234 runs with Abhishek Porel scoring 82. Avesh Khan and Aqib Khan took three wickets each for India A in the first innings.

Based on the first innings lead of 63 runs, India A set a target of 350 runs for India C in the second innings. Despite Sai Sudharsan’s century (111), India C was bowled out for 217, losing the match by 132 runs. Prasidh Krishna and Tanush Kotian took three wickets each for India A in the second innings.
Noteworthy:
- Ishan Kishan had a disappointing match, scoring only 5 runs in the first innings and 17 runs in the second.
