Ensuring Order: 24/7 Control Room at Punjab Airport

-Passengers to get real-time help on refunds, rescheduling, baggage & flight updates Strict action against overcharging by taxis/hotels; price capping already enforced

Taking swift action to protect passengers affected by the ongoing IndiGo flight disruptions across the country, the Punjab Government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has set up a dedicated 24×7 Control Room at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, Chandigarh.

Secretary Civil Aviation, Punjab, Ms Sonali Giri today chaired a high-level review meeting with airport authorities, CISF, IndiGo, Air India, Air India Express, Alliance Air and other stakeholders to normalize operations and ensure minimum inconvenience to travellers.

Key steps taken by Punjab Government:

  • 24×7 Control Room operational immediately at the Duty Terminal Manager’s office for real-time assistance on refunds, rescheduling, baggage delivery and latest flight status.

Additional passenger-friendly measures:

  • IndiGo to deliver all pending ~30 baggage items to passengers’ homes free of cost
  • Airlines directed to inform passengers of cancellations at least 10 hours in advance
  • Strict enforcement of Government of India’s airfare capping guidelines
  • Zero tolerance against profiteering by taxi operators and hotels – strict vigil in place
  • Free medicines, food & water being provided at the airport
  • List of budget (Tier-II & Tier-III) hotels near the airport to be shared shortly for outstation passengers

Ms Sonali Giri reiterated that the sole priority of the state government is passenger welfare and quick grievance redressal. She expressed confidence that normalcy will be restored very soon and urged passengers not to panic.
