Chandigarh/Bathinda, August 17:

In a significant development towards Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s vision of a crime-free Punjab, the Counter Intelligence (CI) unit in Bathinda, in collaboration with the Sri Muktsar Sahib Police, has arrested another key suspect in the Ferozepur triple murder case. The accused, identified as Lovejeet Singh alias Labha from Sri Muktsar Sahib, was apprehended for his involvement in the murders, according to Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav.

This arrest follows the capture of five individuals, including the mastermind, Sunil Bhandari alias Nata, who was responsible for orchestrating the triple killings that occurred on July 31, 2024, in Ferozepur.

DGP Yadav stated that Lovejeet Singh, a close associate of Sunil Bhandari, had provided shelter to Bhandari and his accomplices following the murders. Police recovered two firearms from Lovejeet’s possession, a .30 bore pistol and a .32 bore pistol, along with four live cartridges.

SSP Sri Muktsar Sahib, Tushar Gupta, confirmed that an FIR (No. 88 dated 16.08.2024) has been registered under Section 25 of the Arms Act at Sadar Malout Police Station. Lovejeet Singh, who had a prior criminal record under the NDPS Act, was released from Faridkot Jail in September 2023. Further investigations into his activities and connections are ongoing.
