The Indian men’s hockey team staged a remarkable comeback to secure a 3-1 victory over Ireland in the FIH Pro League 2024-25 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Friday. Goals from Mandeep Singh (22′) , Jarmanpreet Singh (45′) , and Sukhjeet Singh (58′) sealed the win after Ireland had taken an early lead through Jeremy Duncan (8′) .
India will face Ireland again in their next match on Sunday as they aim to continue their winning momentum.

Ireland, ranked 10th in the world, started strongly and dominated the first quarter. Their persistence paid off when Jeremy Duncan scored in the 8th minute, capitalizing on a swift move from the right flank. In the final quarter, Ireland faced mounting pressure and were reduced to 10 men after Luke Witherow received a yellow card. With just over a minute left, Sukhjeet Singh sealed the win with a clinical finish. Instead of opting for a drag-flick, Harmanpreet executed a clever variation, passing to Rajinder , whose shot was deflected in by Sukhjeet.
