Patiala , 15 August After a crucial meeting with the Health Minister, Health Secretary, Mission Director, and Director of the National Health Mission (NHM) Punjab, approximately 9,000 health workers in Punjab have finally received some relief after three and a half years of the Aam Aadmi Party government. Following persistent struggles and 32 meetings led by the NHM Employees’ Union under the leadership of Dr. Wahid Muhammad, Gulshan Sharma, and Sandeep Kaur, three key demands of the NHM employees have been accepted.
Dr. Wahid, while thanking the department’s senior officials, informed the press that the three major demands met by the government and the department include: cashless health insurance for employees through an agreement with Indian Bank, earned leave benefits, and an extension of the annual contract renewal period from one year to five years.

On this occasion, the Union’s State General Secretary, Amarjeet Singh, and Senior Vice President, Kiranjeet Kaur, expressed gratitude to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Health Minister Balbir Singh, Health Secretary Kumar Rahul, Mission Director Ghanshyam Thori, Finance Director Saurav Gupta, and HR Manager Deep Shikha. While sharing details with the press, they urged the Punjab government to revise the currently inadequate salaries with a special increment, ensure timely monthly salary disbursements, provide gratuity to retired employees, offer loyalty bonuses to employees completing 5, 10, and 15 years of service, increase the retirement age limit, and fill vacant posts in the mission.
