-Aman Arora Congratulates New Officers, Urges Them to Uphold Punjab’s Legacy of Valour Total Commissioned Alumni from Institute Reaches 186

Continuing Punjab’s proud legacy of contributing brave soldiers to the nation’s defence forces under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, five alumni of the prestigious Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (MRSAFPI) in Mohali were commissioned as officers in the Indian Armed Forces on Saturday.
Four cadets were commissioned into the Indian Army during the Passing Out Parade of the 157th Regular Course at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun. The parade was reviewed by General Upendra Dwivedi, PVSM, AVSM, Chief of the Army Staff.

The newly commissioned Lieutenants are:
- Gurkirat Singh (Amritsar), son of an ex-serviceman from the Corps of Engineers
- Barjinder Singh (Gurdaspur), son of a school principal and a PSPCL Superintendent
- Sukhdev Singh Gill (Gurdaspur), son of a retired PSPCL Junior Engineer
- Vinayak Sharma (Pathankot), whose parents are in private employment
Additionally, Kush Pandeya (Ludhiana) was commissioned as a Flying Officer in the Indian Air Force from the 216th Course at the Air Force Academy (AFA), Dundigal, Hyderabad. The parade was reviewed by General Anil Chauhan, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, Chief of Defence Staff. Kush hails from a distinguished military family, with his father a retired IAF Group Captain and mother a serving Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Medical Corps.
Punjab’s Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Minister Aman Arora extended heartfelt congratulations to the new officers. He urged them to excel in their service careers and bring glory to the state, emphasizing that the Mann-led government is committed to nurturing youth aspirations and creating opportunities in diverse fields, including the armed forces.
Major General Ajay H. Chauhan, VSM (Retd), Director of MRSAFPI, congratulated the alumni and called upon them to embody the highest ideals of the Indian Defence Services, serving the nation, state, and their alma mater with distinction. He noted that with these five commissions, a total of 186 MRSAFPI cadets have now become officers in the Indian Armed Forces since the institute’s inception.
This achievement underscores Punjab’s ongoing contribution to national security and the effectiveness of state initiatives in preparing youth for leadership roles in the defence services.
