1st RGNUL National Corporate Liquidation Process Competition Concludes Successfully

Best Speaker Award to Kajal Bang (O.P. Jindal Global University)

Patiala, February 23

The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Law Division under the Centre for Business Laws and Taxation at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab successfully organized the inaugural 1st RGNUL National Corporate Liquidation Process Competition. The event brought together participants from leading law schools across India and simulated complex corporate liquidation proceedings under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016. It particularly emphasized secured creditor rights, procedural compliance, and the interplay between insolvency law and criminal enforcement mechanisms.

Kajal Bang from O.P. Jindal Global University was awarded Best Speaker. The team from O.P. Jindal Global University secured the Runners-Up position, while the team from National Law University, Delhi emerged as the Winners of the competition.

The competition featured Preliminary Rounds (conducted online), followed by Semi-Final and Final Rounds held physically at RGNUL on February 21, 2026.

The event was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Jai Shankar Singh, who stressed the importance of competitions on specialized subjects like insolvency and bankruptcy. He urged students to master the nuances of emerging technologies and new laws to contribute towards building a stronger India.

The Semi-Final Rounds were adjudicated by an expert panel comprising:

  • Rashneet Kaur (Khaitan & Co.)
  •  Eshna Kumar (Chambers of Eshna Kumar)
  •  Anil Katia (Insolvency Professional)
  • Ankit Goel (Founding Partner, AAA Insolvency Professionals LLP)

The Final Rounds were judged by:

  •  Shivani Sinha (Partner, Pheonix Legal)
  •  Vaijayant Paliwal (Partner, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co.)

The competition concluded with a Valedictory Ceremony celebrating the achievements of participants and organizers. Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma (Faculty Coordinator, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Law Division), Prof. (Dr.) Kamaljit Kaur (Dean Research), along with faculty members Dr. Geetika Walia and Dr. Shruti Goyal, graced the occasion. Dr. Ivneet Walia (Registrar, RGNUL) delivered the vote of thanks.

The event served as an excellent platform for law students to engage deeply with the practical and evolving dimensions of corporate liquidation under the IBC framework.
