Grok’s New Memory Feature Enhances Personalized Interactions Across Platforms

Patiala, 18 April (Desk)
xAI has introduced a cutting-edge memory feature for its Grok AI chatbot, designed to personalize user interactions by recalling details from previous conversations. This update, aligning Grok with competitors like ChatGPT and Gemini, ensures more relevant and seamless responses, enriching the user experience across all platforms.
As announced in a recent post on X, Grok now retains contextual data to refine its recommendations and responses. The feature is accessible to both free and paid users on the Grok website, as well as Android and iOS mobile apps, making personalized AI interactions widely availableව
For instance, if a user shares their fitness goals, Grok can reference this information later to suggest tailored workout plans.

To ensure transparency, xAI has implemented tools to clarify what data is stored and how it’s utilized. When Grok uses past conversations to shape a response, a “Referenced Chats” icon appears below the message. Clicking it opens a sidebar displaying the specific memories referenced, which users can delete directly, though this functionality is currently web-only.
Users can manage their data preferences in the Data Controls section of Settings, where they can disable the memory feature or remove specific entries. These controls are also limited to the web platform for now.
Due to stringent privacy regulations, the memory feature is unavailable in the European Union and the United Kingdom but is rolling out globally elsewhere.
