Three standout performances from August have earned their respective players nominations for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award. Keshav Maharaj of South Africa, Jayden Seales of West Indies, and Dunith Wellalage of Sri Lanka have been recognized for their exceptional contributions during the month

Keshav Maharaj (South Africa):
Maharaj, a seasoned left-arm spinner, played a pivotal role in South Africa’s 1-0 series win over West Indies. He claimed 13 wickets at an average of 16.07, including a crucial five-wicket haul in the second Test. Maharaj also surpassed Hugh Tayfield to become the most successful Proteas spinner in Test history.
Jayden Seales (West Indies):
Seales, a promising fast bowler, emerged as West Indies’ leading bowler in the Test series against South Africa. He took 12 wickets at an average of 18.08, with nine wickets coming in the second Test. Seales’ career-best 6/61 in the second Test innings was instrumental in West Indies’ victory. If he wins the award, Seales will become the third West Indies player to achieve this honor this year.

Dunith Wellalage (Sri Lanka):
Wellalage, a talented all-rounder, had a breakthrough series against India. He contributed significantly with both bat and ball, scoring 108 runs and taking seven wickets. His 67* in the first ODI and crucial wickets of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill helped Sri Lanka clinch a thrilling tie. He also played a vital role in Sri Lanka’s victory in the second ODI. In the third ODI, Wellalage’s career-best 5/27 derailed the Indian innings, claiming the wickets of Kohli, Rohit, and Shreyas Iyer.
The three nominees showcase the talent and diversity in men’s cricket, and the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award will recognize the most outstanding performer from August.
