The ICC has announced the nominees for the Men’s Player of the Month award for December 2024. The nominees are Pat Cummins (Australia), Jasprit Bumrah (India), and Dane Paterson (South Africa). All three played crucial roles for their respective teams in December.
Pat Cummins (Australia):
As captain, Cummins led Australia to a crucial Border-Gavaskar Trophy win, securing their place in the ICC World Test Championship 2025 Final. He excelled with both bat and ball throughout the series against India. Cummins took 17 wickets at an impressive average of 17.64 across three Tests. His best performance was a sensational 5/57 in Adelaide, contributing significantly to Australia’s 10-wicket victory. He also contributed valuable runs with the bat, scoring 49 and 41 in Melbourne and took 6 wickets in the match.

Jasprit Bumrah (India):
Bumrah was India’s standout performer in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, earning the Player of the Series award. He took 22 wickets in three Tests at a phenomenal average of 14.22. His nine-wicket hauls in both the Brisbane and Melbourne Tests were instrumental in keeping India competitive. These performances also earned Bumrah his highest-ever rating points in the ICC Test Player Rankings for any Indian bowler.
Dane Paterson (South Africa):
Paterson’s excellent bowling performances were key to South Africa securing their spot in the ICC World Test Championship 2025 Final. He took 13 wickets in two Tests against Sri Lanka and Pakistan at an average of 16.92. His figures of 5/71 against Sri Lanka and 5/61 against Pakistan were crucial in South Africa’s victories.
