The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the shortlist for the Women’s Player of the Month award for May 2025, recognizing outstanding performances across international cricket. The nominees are Hayley Matthews (West Indies), Laura Tyron (South Africa), and Jemimah Rodrigues (India).
Hayley Matthews (West Indies)
West Indies captain Hayley Matthews continued her stellar form from the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Pakistan, leading her team during their white-ball tour of England. In the three-match T20I series, the dynamic all-rounder dominated with the bat, scoring 177 runs at an average of 88.50 and a strike rate of 137.20. She also picked up three wickets, earning the Player of the Series award. Matthews carried her form into the first ODI against England, contributing 48 runs and taking two wickets with her off-spin, showcasing her all-round prowess.

Laura Tyron (South Africa)
South Africa’s all-rounder Laura Tyron played a pivotal role in the ODI tri-series against India and Sri Lanka. The 31-year-old amassed 176 runs across three ODIs at an average of 58.66, while also claiming six wickets at an economy rate of 5. Her standout performance came in South Africa’s final match against hosts Sri Lanka. Batting first, Tyron’s 74 helped the Proteas post a formidable total exceeding 300. With the ball, the left-arm orthodox spinner delivered her maiden ODI five-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 5/34, cementing her impact on the game.

Jemimah Rodrigues (India)
Indian batter Jemimah Rodrigues was instrumental in India’s victorious campaign at the ODI tri-series in Sri Lanka, ahead of the Women’s Cricket World Cup on home soil. The elegant right-hander scored 204 runs across the last three matches, including the final against Sri Lanka, steering India to a commanding 97-run victory. Rodrigues shone brightly in the lead-up to the final, scoring her second ODI century against South Africa with a brilliant 123 off 101 balls, featuring 15 fours and a six. In the summit clash, her 44-run knock helped India set a challenging total, securing the title.
