Harshitha Samarawickrama (Sri Lanka)

Samarawickrama continued her meteoric rise with dominant performances against Ireland in both ODI and T20I series. Following her unbeaten 69 against India in July, she showcased her batting prowess with scores of 86* and 65 in the T20I series. In the ODI series, she further impressed with scores of 19, 105, and 48*, finishing as the leading run-scorer in both series.

Orla Prendergast (Ireland):

While not matching Samarawickrama’s run tally, Prendergast demonstrated her all-round skills. She contributed 67 runs and two wickets in the T20I series against Sri Lanka. However, her standout performance came in the opening ODI match, where she claimed 3/25 with the new ball and took two catches to restrict Sri Lanka to 260/8. In the reply, she scored a magnificent 122* from 107 deliveries, leading Ireland to a three-wicket victory. Her exceptional performance earned her the Player of the Match award.

Gaby Lewis (Ireland)

Lewis excelled in the T20I format, setting a new record for the highest individual score by an Irishwoman in T20I cricket. In the second T20I against Sri Lanka, she blazed her way to 119 from just 75 deliveries, including 17 boundaries and two sixes. Her innings helped Ireland post a challenging total of 173/3, which proved too much for Sri Lanka to chase down.

The three nominees showcase the talent and diversity in women’s cricket, and the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award will recognize the most outstanding performer from August.
