Inderjit Kaur of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been elected as the new Mayor of Ludhiana, marking the city’s first female mayoral appointment.

-Alongside her, Rakesh Parashar has been elected as Senior Deputy Mayor, and Prince Johar as Deputy Mayor.
-In the recent municipal elections, AAP emerged as the largest party, winning 41 out of 95 wards.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP Punjab President Aman Arora have extended their congratulations to the newly elected officials. Arora emphasized that under AAP’s leadership, the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation will operate with honesty and transparency, focusing on keeping the city clean and providing basic amenities to residents.
Arora also paid tribute to the late AAP MLA Gurpreet Gogi, noting that it was his heartfelt wish for Ludhiana to have an AAP Mayor with a full majority—a vision realized today.

He commended party workers, leaders, and local MLAs for their dedication during the municipal election campaign, attributing the achievement to their tireless efforts.
Looking ahead, Arora stated that stalled development projects will be expedited, and new initiatives will be implemented to enhance the city’s beauty and cleanliness. He reiterated that maintaining cleanliness and ensuring basic amenities for the populace are top priorities, with the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and all councilors committed to working diligently towards these goals.
