In a display of sheer dominance, the Indian Women’s cricket team registered its largest-ever win by runs, defeating Ireland by a staggering 304 runs in the third ODI of the three-match series in Rajkot on Wednesday.
Batting first, India amassed a formidable 435/5 in their 50 overs, setting an unassailable target. Pratika Rawal led the charge with a magnificent 154 off 129 balls, while stand-in skipper Smriti Mandhana blazed her way to the fastest ODI century by an Indian woman. Richa Ghosh also contributed a quickfire 59 to the mammoth total.

The Irish chase never truly gained momentum. While Orla Prendergast and Sarah Forbes forged a 64-run partnership for the fourth wicket, the dismissal of Forbes triggered a dramatic collapse. Freya Sargent’s dismissal, caught at mid-off by Deepti Sharma, sealed Ireland’s fate, handing India the record-breaking victory.
This resounding win surpasses India’s previous largest margin of victory, a 249-run triumph against Ireland in Potchefstroom back in 2017.
