India’s women’s futsal team is set to make its debut at the AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup 2025 Qualifiers in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Their first match is against Hong Kong China on Wednesday, January 15th.
Head coach Joshuah Stan Vaz has selected a 14-member squad following a two-phase training camp in Bhavnagar, Gujarat. Eighteen teams are participating in the qualifiers, divided into four groups (two groups of five and two groups of four).
India has been drawn into Group B alongside Hong Kong China, Indonesia (the hosts), and the Kyrgyz Republic. The top two teams from each group, along with the best third-placed team across all four groups, will qualify for the AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup 2025 in May. This is India’s first appearance in the qualifiers.
Futsal is a five-a-side indoor version of football played on a smaller pitch with a heavier, less bouncy ball. Matches consist of two 20-minute halves.

China has automatically qualified for the AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup 2025 as hosts, while defending champions Iran and Japan also qualified automatically after reaching the final of the 2018 edition.
