India Overpowers Pakistan, Clinches Fifth Consecutive Win in Asian Champions Trophy

India dominated the highly anticipated final round-robin match of the Asian Champions Trophy on Saturday, defeating Pakistan 2-1. Harmanpreet Singh scored both goals for India, while Nadeem Ahmed netted Pakistan’s lone goal. With this victory, India extended their unbeaten streak in the tournament to five matches. The Paris Olympics bronze medalists had previously defeated China 3-0, Japan 5-1, Malaysia 8-1, and Korea 3-1.

Nadeem Ahmed of Pakistan opened the scoring in the eighth minute, marking the first time India had conceded the opening goal in the tournament. However, India equalized through a penalty corner conversion by Harmanpreet Singh before the end of the first quarter. India took the lead in the fourth minute of the second quarter when Harmanpreet Singh scored again from another penalty corner. Both teams created numerous scoring opportunities in the third and fourth quarters but were unable to convert them.

India and Pakistan were both undefeated coming into this match. With this loss, only India remains undefeated in the tournament. India has won all five of their matches, while Pakistan has won two, drawn two, and lost one.
