New Zealand has tightened the screws on India on the second day of the second Test match being played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Riding on Mitchell Santner’s seven-wicket haul and Tom Latham’s half-century, the Kiwis have reached 198/5 at stumps on Day 2.
India, bundled out for a paltry 156 in their first innings, found themselves trailing by 103 runs. New Zealand capitalized on this advantage in their second innings, extending their lead to a commanding 301 runs. Washington Sundar has taken four wickets for India, while R. Ashwin has claimed one. Tom Blundell and Glenn Phillips are unbeaten on 30 and 9 respectively.

Earlier in the day, India’s batting order collapsed, with the team being dismissed for just 156 runs. Ravindra Jadeja was the top scorer for India, contributing a quick-fire 38 runs. The Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, and veteran batsman Virat Kohli failed to make a significant impact. Mitchell Santner was the star with the ball for New Zealand, picking up seven wickets. Glenn Phillips and Tim Southee claimed two and one wickets respectively.
