Highlighting the government’s vision, Dr. Ravjot Singh said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab is committed to transforming prisons into centres of reform and rehabilitation. He stressed that ensuring drug-free jails remains a top priority and appreciated the jail administration for its continued efforts in this direction.

The Minister also inspected key facilities, including the jail hospital, barracks, and the Aam Aadmi Clinic operating within the premises. He interacted with inmates, heard their concerns, and assured them of the government’s support in improving healthcare, education, and rehabilitation services.

He further noted that the petrol pump run by the Jail Department is providing meaningful employment opportunities to inmates, aiding their skill development and reintegration into society.

Emphasizing the broader purpose of correctional institutions, the Minister stated that jails should serve as centres of reform rather than mere places of punishment, offering inmates a chance to rebuild their lives. He expressed satisfaction with the cleanliness and overall management of the jail and appreciated the welfare initiatives being undertaken.

Senior officials present on the occasion included Mohammad Tayyab, Gurcharan Singh Dhaliwal, along with other officials.
