KALKA CALLS FOR UNITED SIKH COMMEMORATION OF GURU TEGH BAHADUR’S 350TH MARTYRDOM ANNIVERSARY

Amritsar, August 8

Harmeet Singh Kalka, President of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), accompanied by other office bearers and members, visited Amritsar today to formally invite the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), various Nihang Sampardays, and other Sikh religious bodies to jointly commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of the Ninth Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, in November 2025 in Delhi.

Addressing a large gathering of Sikhs from diverse religious groups, including SGPC representatives, Kalka emphasized the need for collective reverence and Panthic unity. He proposed that the main commemorative event be held at Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib, Delhi—the historic site of the Guru’s martyrdom—under DSGMC’s leadership, with support from all Sikh organizations.

Kalka highlighted past unified commemorations, such as the 300th anniversary of the Khalsa Panth’s creation in 1999, led by SGPC at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib; the 400th Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Angad Dev Ji at Sri Khadur Sahib; the 550th Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji at Sultanpur Lodhi; and the 350th Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji at Patna Sahib. “Following this tradition, the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji should be commemorated at Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib,” he reiterated.

Kalka stressed that this anniversary holds national and universal significance, urging all Sikh social and religious organizations to come together for a united commemoration.
