Mumbai Indians (MI) secured a nail-biting four-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in a thrilling Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 clash at Bengaluru on Friday. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and all-rounder Amanjot Kaur played pivotal roles in guiding their team to victory while chasing a competitive target of 168.
RCB’s Competitive Total
After being put into bat, RCB posted a challenging total of 167/7 , thanks largely to a fiery half-century from Australian star Ellyse Perry . Perry smashed an unbeaten 81 off just 43 balls , laced with 11 fours and two sixes , to rescue RCB after they were struggling at 57/4 .

Perry received support from wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh , who contributed 28 off 25 balls , and skipper Smriti Mandhana , who played a quickfire 26 off 13 deliveries . For MI, medium-pacer Amanjot Kaur was the standout bowler, claiming 3/22 to restrict RCB’s scoring rate during the middle overs.
MI’s Thrilling Chase
Chasing 168 , MI got off to a shaky start as opener Yastika Bhatia departed early. However, Hayley Matthews (15 off 10) and England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt (42 off 21; 9x4s) steadied the innings with a 55-run partnership for the second wicket, keeping MI in the hunt.

Sciver-Brunt’s explosive knock came to an end when she was bowled by Kim Garth , leaving MI at 75/3 . Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur then took charge, forming a crucial 52-run stand with Amanjot Kaur for the fifth wicket. Harmanpreet played a composed innings, scoring 50 off 38 balls with 8 fours and 1 six , before being stumped off Georgia Wareham’s delivery.
Wareham struck again in the same over, dismissing Sajeevan Sajana , which added pressure on MI. However, Amanjot Kaur rose to the occasion, smashing 34 off 27 balls , including two sixes in the penultimate over off Kanika Ahuja , to bring the equation down to just one run per ball in the final over.
With MI needing four runs off the last two deliveries, G Kamalini sealed the win with a boundary off Ekta Bisht , handing MI their first victory over defending champions RCB in three attempts.
