Key Associate of Foreign-Based Gangster Sonu Khatri Arrested in Kharar with Three Pistols

CHANDIGARH, May 8:
In a major breakthrough under the ongoing campaign against organized crime, as directed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, in a joint operation with SAS Nagar Police, arrested Harjinder Singh, a key associate of foreign-based gangster Rajesh Kumar alias Sonu Khatri, from Kharar Bus Stand. This was announced by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav on Thursday.
Police teams recovered three pistols from the arrested accused, including two .32 bore and one .30 bore, along with 14 cartridges.
DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that Harjinder Singh was wanted in a case involving an armed attack on rival gang members at ‘Future Heights’ in Kharar.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Harjinder Singh was receiving direct instructions from his foreign-based handler, Sonu Khatri, and was conspiring to execute a high-profile crime in the state.
The DGP emphasized that Harjinder Singh’s arrest is a significant step in the ongoing and vigilant efforts to counter gangster networks operating with cross-border connections. Further investigations are underway to uncover the entire network and establish forward and backward linkages.

Sharing details of the operation, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) AGTF Promod Ban stated that, based on credible intelligence, AGTF teams, led by DSP Rajan Parminder, tracked Harjinder Singh in the Kharar area and successfully apprehended him at Kharar Bus Stand.
A case had already been registered under FIR No. 68, dated 24/02/2025, under sections 125, 194, 194(2), 296, 193(3), and 190 of the BNS, and sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act at Police Station City Kharar, SAS Nagar.
