
Sangrur, August 30 Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann inaugurated the third edition of the state’s premier sporting event, “Khedan Watan Punjab Dian,” at the War Heroes Museum in Sangrur.

- The opening ceremony featured a vibrant march past by participating contingents from various districts. Addressing the gathering, Mann announced that this year’s edition would see over 5 lakh players compete across 37 games in nine age groups.
- With a total prize fund of over Rs 9 crore, the event also includes para sports for the first time, reflecting the state’s commitment to inclusivity.

- Mann emphasized the event’s role in channeling youth energy away from drugs and promoting a healthier lifestyle. He outlined the competition schedule, including block-level, district-level, and state-level stages.
- The Chief Minister highlighted the state government’s efforts to promote sports, including increased budgetary allocations, creation of a sports medical cadre, and rewards for medal-winning athletes.
- The inaugural ceremony also featured cultural performances, including traditional dance, music, and gymnastics. Renowned Punjabi singers and young talents entertained the audience.
